THERAPEUTIC INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

Higher Ground, a program of Sun Valley Adaptive Sports offers year-round internship opportunities for therapeutic recreation (TR) students as well as students in other recreation related fields. Interns receive hands-on experience working with Higher Ground participants. Interns also help with research, participant assessments and tracking, and assist with program planning and execution. Best of all, they will have fun, make great friends, explore the great outdoors, and enjoy a life-changing experience. Great stipends available!

We follow the ATRA standards of practice and NCTRC internship guidelines. Our internship supervisors are CTRS professionals.

We are looking for interns with experience in some, but not all of the following: skiing, snowboarding, ice skating, snowshoeing, Nordic skiing, rafting, cycling, hiking, fishing, camping, kayaking, canoeing, swimming, waterskiing, wake boarding, and rock climbing. If you are a highly organized, motivated person who has exceptional communication and computer skills; easily handles challenge; and enjoys working in a team environment, we need you!

July-October
Higher Ground wounded service member adventure camps-Water sports, River Adventure, Fly-fishing events and assisting in the local summer camp and Special Olympics programs

Your Job: You will help wounded warriors with visual impairments (VI) and traumatic brain injuries (TBI), and PTSD from all branches of the U.S. military.  You will be part of a therapeutic team who build confidence, improve relationships, and assist in the reintegration process. All this while fulfilling these warriors dreams and aspirations through sports and recreation.

To qualify: Currently enrolled in Therapeutic Recreation or Recreation Management
Availability: 1 slot

 
WINTER: January-April
Higher Ground wounded service member adventure camps-Snow sports and assisting in the local winter snow sports and Special Olympics programs
